Begin Giving your experiences

Hi everyone.... looks like lost in the world of work... well some of us atleast me, I am lucky that I have made giving a habit. And it continues - be wheat flour packets, or packets of chana and jagerry or dates. My giving continues and makes me happy to receive blessings and smiles. I also get demands like need medicines, or a balm for aches... even shawls, sweaters... I try my level best and perhaps have succeded. Recently my mom fell down and had a hip fracture. Was caring for her for 15 days… Continue

Sandwiches made and Distributed

So on 17th a few friends got together at Marriette's place to make sandwiches. The idea was to make some sandwiches and then distribute it to the homeless and poor people in Delhi. Marriette made it clear to everyone that we were not not just doing food distribution but actually trying to connect to the pe… Continue

Making Sandwiches and Distributing to hungry

I'm posting this on Behalf of Marriette:

Hi friends,

A few of us are getting together on Sunday to make sandwiches and then distribute them to people in the street. Do you want to join?

The plan:
- Meet at central location - to be confirmed - at 1pm on Sunday to make sandwiches. Come with the necessary ingredients
- Go to a spot with lots of "clients" and hand out the sandwiches

The goal is to have fun and create a chance to connect with people we don't usually connect with. Food is always a… Continue

Little Blogging a.k.a. Little Giving.

What's happened to all of us here. This group used to be so vibrant. Willing to do good and not just for the 7D7G's or shall I say 'Joy of Giving' Week. What's happened to all you guys? Do you think this is a one time affair. You give and it is all finished and done over with? You've done your bit and may the Devil take care of it...is that what? Look around you, you can still see suffering and want and penury. So what if you can't remove everyone's suffering, at least you can do your bit and a… Continue

Merry Christmas

Guys here's wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
And guess what I did my Good Deed for the day, I dropped off a slightly elderly man to near his house, he was buying a Plum Cake and was waiting for an Auto to take him home. He said that amongst other luminaries born on Christmas Day it was his mother's Birthday too i.e. 25th December.
He said that it is hard for such people to come by while alighting from my scooter. I guess he meant it as a compliment. Wow.

Regards

Giving

With Christmas around the corner - i have brought out the santa Claus cap I bought last year from a street vendor at a traffic signal. The little girl selling the caps was hungry and that why I bought one cap. I went in search of that girl ay the same traffic signal - perhaps hoping to find that girl selling the caps. Obviously she was not there but the there were others.

I plan to collect warm clothes - sweaters, shawls, blankets - old, or even torn a bit to give it to those who are in the col… Continue

Hidden Smile

I have to reach that magical figure and found 5 more yesterday - got 5 smiles. Though one was hidden and I guessed she may have smiled. Near this garden that I frequent for my walks, yesterday I noticed a woman hiding behind the fancy bus stand. She was arranging the empty water bottles she had gathered. Every two minutes, she di that. Arrange - deranged perhaps. I stopped and asked her something and she just went behind the bus stop and hid. I extended some money and she immediately grabbed and… Continue

Giving and getting ripped in Old Delhi

My best friend Bulbul who is a foodie and a cook book author arranged a food walk in Old Delhi and I tagged along to enjoy the delights of the day. At the first stop an old Jain mandir, I was intrigued by 2 boys, one handicapped due to polio in both legs, the other a naughty urchin. They chatted me up asking for food. It so happened at that precise juncture that in a place FULL of food, there was no food vendor to be seen. I walked for a bit along with them looking for food when they confessed,… Continue

Diwali Gifts - 100 Smiles

I have earlier said that I have adopted "sort of" a family on the pavement at the garden I go to for my walks. This Diwali, I purchased some food items such as dates, sweets, chocolates and clothes and gave it to the family. I also have decided that this week, will make atleast 100 people smile especially rag pickers, old women beggers and handicapped beggars. Dates, sweets, ten rupee coins...all work well. Have thus far succeeded in getting back "23 smiles' and will continue to reach that 100 m… Continue
